Recently I've been experimenting with soaking watercolor paper in my morning cup of coffee. The tannish off white color creates a steezy background for my my newest pieces. I've been experimenting with these figures drawn in a sketchy style, I'm trying to embrase my sketchy steez.

Street Corner

Street Corner distribution hired me for a few months to do some art and design. It was a cool experience and learned a lot from it. I had three things printed, a board graphic for City Skateboards check it out on page5, a wheel graphic, and a teeshirt. Jeremy Reeves says this is his favorite board from the catalog.

I'm printing again. Pretty amped on it too, it has been awhile. In a way I'm kinda glad I took a break from it, let me concentrate on drawing and photoshopin'. But now I'm back in the game, armed with a tiny press and a formidable space, some new prints will definitely be in the works.

Andrew Langi

I'm really stoked about creating this article! I always see Andrew Langi at the RWC park and he kills it so hard. I filmed him for 10min and he got a ridiculous amount of footy. When I showed my edit to Kyle he thought it was definitely SLAP material but needed photos if it were to be a real feature article. We came back the next day and Kyle shot some good lookin photos; that same week I designed the whole article, wrote the text, and published it on the website.

It seems to have gotton a good response on the SLAP forums and it has received a fair amount of coverage from : Crailtap & Skatedaily

Foto Feature

I spent the whole day at home working on on this photo feature for SLAP and editing a movie for a dentist. The dentist thing was super boring and the only thing that kept sane was working on this layout and design for SLAP. I found a cool texture on Smashing Magazine and then scanned some splatters that I did in watercolor and Ink. Making photoshop brushes is super fun bra!!!!

Ive been at SLAP long enough now that Mark Whiteley trusted me to design an article for him. It's an article featuring Louie Barletta and Jerry Hsu with sequences shot by Mark over the last few years. I made the animations, swf's, layout, pull quotes, and cover design.

Backyard Painting

Marty and I were painting in the backyard today. I busted this watercolor and scanned it into photoshop for Marty to make some corrections. The image on the top is my original and the image on the bottom is the one with Marty's additions. He used photoshop to establish a better value range and to make the foregound area more contrasty.

I'm currently interning for Slap Skateboard Magazine and made this flyer yesterday as a side project. The flyer is for a gallery party that Slap put on...the night was tighter than a facelift.

I made this video for Erik @ slap skateboard mag. Tim Brauch Memorial Skate Jam last week of Sept. It was cool seeing all the old legends skate, they all still rip so hard.

Getting Closer to Nature

I like the idea of using the human figure in relation to the natural world. The comedic aspect arises in the relation of the two in their interaction with each other. The absurdity of the human condition is that we have trouble finding our place within nature. I'm trying to illuminate the absurd aspect of this human condition.

I used a mezzotint on the top part of this print. It's a technique that requires a lot of time and effort, but has a unique quality.

Edward Hopper "Chop Suey"

The painting entitled Chop Suey is one of my favorite Hopper paintings. The area where the two women are facing one another is particularly interesting to me. I attempted to zoom in on that area of the painting using an aquatint with a sepia tone.
